Quality Engineer

Job Description

The Quality Engineer will provide the quality assurance support to the assigned program and/or area to ensure that the product is built in accordance with customer and division quality requirements while maintaining production flow. The Quality Engineer plays a main role in ensuring that the divisions and customers’ quality requirements are met on assigned products, programs, areas, and functions. Accordingly, the Quality Engineer participates in the review of all design, manufacturing, testing, and supplier documentation to ensure that those requirements are fulfilled. The major portion of the Quality Engineer’s time is devoted to support of the operations group to which they are assigned. Such support includes providing visual aids and inspection analyses to assist the inspection process and includes a key role serving as “referee” in making “accept” or “reject” decisions. The principal challenge confronting the Quality Engineer is to review quality trends and to prevent or reduce defects, determine problem causes, and initiate actions to correct them. Failures may be attributable to errors in design, workmanship, documentation, defective parts, or defective material. Uses independent judgment and exercises discretion in executing their duties. This position requires a degree of confidentiality.

Essential Functions

1. Responsible for Quality System Maintenance.
2. Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
3. Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.
4. Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system.
5. Develop training to build quality awareness.
6. Will interface with engineering and operations to ensure transfer to production of new products are in accordance with approved data.
7. Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure the products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
8. Conduct audits including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive action.
9. Will analyze failure, corrective, and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
10. Create and maintain company quality documentation such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
11. Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the overall activities of receiving/outgoing quality functions.
12. Continuously improving Quality receiving inspection processes and procedures.
13. Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
14. May manage suppliers’ performance and conduct audits.
15. Will prepare Quality reports.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /Engineering Technology or related field preferred and/or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
2. Undergraduate degree in technical discipline.
3. Ability to Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action Activities.
4. Strong interpersonal, teaming and leadership Attributes.
5. Flexible and self-motivated.
6. Data Driven Analysis and decision-making.
7. Ability to organize and prioritize activities with a long-term goal focus.
8. Statistical Problem-Solving Methodology (Six Sigma).
9. Manufacturing process experience.
