Job Description

Titan Tire Corporation of Freeport is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to join our maintenance team. This role is essential to keeping our production operations running safely, efficiently, and at the highest quality standards. The Electrician is responsible for testing, installing, programming, assembling, and maintaining electrical and electronic equipment used throughout the plant. This includes motors, generators, control systems, PLCs, solid‑state controllers, instrumentation, and related mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.

 

This position requires strong diagnostic skills, the ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics, and hands‑on experience with industrial electrical systems.

Steel Trust Pension (Defined‑Benefit Pension Plan)

Titan Tire provides a 100% employer‑funded lifetime pension through the Steelworkers Pension Trust (SPT).

Eligibility

  • Begins after 180 days of employment (coverage starts the first day of the following month)
  • Fully vested after 5 years of service

Company Contributions

  • Titan contributes $2.40 per hour worked (2027–2028 rate)
  • Includes regular hours, overtime, vacation, holidays, jury duty, and bereavement

Pension Formula

Your monthly pension at age 65 is calculated as:
Monthly Pension = 18.25% x Total Employer Contributions divided by 12

Retirement Options

Essential Functions

  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment including motors, generators, transformers, control devices, alarm systems, and protective equipment.
  • Diagnose malfunctions using multimeters, oscilloscopes, meggers, recorders, PC terminals, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Install, maintain, and repair solid‑state controllers, SCRs, magnetic amplifiers, microprocessor‑based systems, and programmable controllers.
  • Perform wiring, conduit installation, cable pulling, and panel work according to prints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Maintain and repair electromechanical, electropneumatic, and electrohydraulic systems.
  • Inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and make adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Read and interpret electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
  • Complete required documentation including timecards, maintenance logs, and repair notes.
  • Follow all company safety rules, wear required PPE and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience/Skills:

  1. High School diploma and/or general education (GED); and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that performs the essential functions of this position
  2. Must be thoroughly proficient in mechanical skills.
  3. Must be capable of troubleshooting and repairing all breakdowns in a reasonable amount of time with minimal direction from supervisor.
  4. Must be able to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  5. Must be able to exhibit knowledge of electrical safety and working with building electrical systems.
  6. Must be able to exhibit knowledge of potable water systems and sanitary plumbing systems.
  7. Must be able to exhibit knowledge of computer systems, PC based systems.
  8. 3-5 years of electrical, mechanical, or multi-craft experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment or equivalent education
