Metric Sizing

More Advantages For Farmers.

Initially, metric size tires came quietly — one here, one there. Now, metric sizing is so popular that some tire lines are only available in metric sizes. In fact, the majority of all new sizes of radial farm tires are being introduced with metric sizing. The driving force behind the transition to metric sizes has been to standardize tire sizing globally, as well as satisfy the demand for new tire sizes that more easily match front and rear tires for mechanical front-wheel drive tractors. A better match means enhanced efficiency.

Passenger, light truck and medium truck tires have already made the transition to metric sizes. Now, farm tires are making the move. While the move to metric reflects the globalization of agriculture, it offers advantages beyond commercial interests of simplified trade via globally-recognized tire sizes. Benefits to farmers include:

  • Greater load carrying capacity in most sizes means the vehicle can carry more weight or carry the same load at a lower inflation with less soil compaction.
  • Wider selection of approved rim widths gives you more choices and more economical changeovers.
  • Matching rolling circumferences for MFWD tractors lengthens the lives of tractor drive trains and provides long, even treadwear.
  • More size choices deliver better tractor fit.
